in mid February. When the plum is ripe it halves beautifully and

well looking lovely and golden in the jars. A vigorous upright tree,
bearing huge crops of fruit.
This tree was sent to Harrion’s Trees in 1994 by Mr Gordon
Neilson and placed in the organic trial area for evaluation. Since
coming into production it has had huge crops of fruit. The annual
visit by the Manawatu Tree Crops Assc. to the trial area has prompted
Harriosn’s Trees to propagate this for keen home gardener
as it was much admired and tasted by the group. Another group of
visitors to the trial area the Kereru or native wood pigeon, have
also been very partial to the fruit. No need to worry about the
Kereru’s interest in this plum as the tree produces plenty
to share !!!
LUISA
Luisa is a chance seedling arising in Hamilton. Very large,
yellow flesh and skin, virtually freestone. Unusual shape, similar
to a mango. Exceptional eating quality with a sweet aromatic flavour

grown organically. Ripens late January to Early February. Self-fertile.

of being green when ripe, one of the sweetest plums in existence.

skin and flesh.
SANTA ROSA

It has yellow flesh and pinkish-red skin with an aromatic flavour.

Omega and Duffs Early Jewel.
SULTAN

when ripe. Ripens in mid January. A low spreading tree, which crops
young and heavily. A self-fertile variety which is ideal for the

DUAL PLUM
One tree but Two fantastic varieties
BILLINGTON / BLACK DORIS
- Billington - A plum with dark red skin and flesh is good for
eating and jam making. The fruit ripen in early January.
- Black Doris - Medium to large fruit, ready in late January.
It has black skin and dark red flesh Excellent for dessert and
bottling
REINE CLAUDE du BAVAY / COE’S GOLDEN DROP
- Reine Claude du Bavay – Popular Greengage plum, green
when ripe, and very sweet.
- Coe’s Golden Drop – A yellow Gage, late season,
medium to small size. Yellow skin and flesh.
We regret due to the growth pattern of the Greengage (Reine Claude du Bavay) we will no longer offer these 2 varieties as a dual tree. The Grrengage is to vigorous and over shadows the Coes Golden Drop even with careful managment so I regret we have decided that we will longer offer this plum combination. We still offer these 2 trees seperately and in our opinion this is the best way to grow them.
