Pollinators are required on a ratio of 1-10 to 1-20. Mature height
3-4m.
ALEXANDRA
A selection grown especially for pollination in areas where the
winters are mild as it has the advantage of delaying pollen shedding.
Grown by grafting.
BARCELONA
A selection from Oregon of a popular variety. A high quality nut
large and very presentable. Excellent table nut requiring pollination.
ENNIS
A good eating variety for the home garden as it has large nuts produced
in March. A less vigorous variety but very productive. Being used
as a late pollinator for the South Island. Grown by layering.
MERV DE BOLWILLIER
An old German variety which has a large nut. A vigorous bush and
recommended as an additional pollinator with Alexandra, as it sheds
its pollen quite late. Grown by layering.
WHITEHEART
One of New Zealands most promising selections for processing. A
well filled nut with high crackout and nuts maturing in March. Grown
by layering.
