Guava - RED - Psidium cattleianum
Maturity 3 – 5 metres.
“Strawberry Guava” A native of Brazil it can stand
up to 5 degrees of frost but it is best to avoid these climates
and prefers a warm situation, similar to growing conditions favoured
by the feijoa. The guava have aromatic, sub-acid berries which contain
many small, hard edible seeds and are ideal for jams, jellies, pies
and drinks.
A no fuss fruit tree that requires minimal pruning or training,
except to be sheltered from frost and they do require some water
in summer for optimum fruiting. Guavas can produce fruit in the
second season and at maturity will have an abundance of fruit that
ripens from aut/early spring.
