Figs
Figs do well in a sunny, sheltered position, and thrive on abundant
moisture 650mm occurring preferably in winter/early spring. Figs
bear heaviest crops when the roots are restricted. Fruit forms on
the tips of the previous seasons growth, removing 1 or 2 of the
older branches completely each year, to encourage new growth.
BROWN TURKEY
A heavy producer of large conical shaped fruit that are light amber/pink
in colour. The fruit ripens in March-April and has a full rich flavour,
which can be enjoyed fresh or is great for cooking and also for
jam making.
BRUNSWICK
A long brown fig of good flavour, with amber flesh. A light 1st
crop in early Jan. and a 2nd crop in March.
FRENCH SUGAR
A red fleshed fig of medium size, green-red flesh and a sweet flavour.
It has a long fruiting season and is a phenomenal cropper in warm
districts.
MISA
A large late season fig with a short neck, is slightly bell shaped
with green skin & deep red flesh. It does not appear to carry
a breba (early crop) to maturity.
MRS WILLIAMS
A sweet table fig with purple-brown skin and amber to red flesh.
The first crops are in December followed by a second crop in late
February to early March. Thrives in most parts of N.Z.
ROBYN
A medium to large sized fig with pale green to yellow skin.
Pulp is pink to cream with a mild flavour. Prolific bearer fruit
ripening February to March.

time collector and Fig conisseur has recommended Robyn as a fig
ideal for the lower North Island which can be a marginal area for ripening figs (Manawatu to Wellington)
SAN PEDRO
Large round fruit with a sweet pink flesh and have moderate to heavy
crops. Fruit ripens in mid February.
