Apples - on Dwarfing Rootstock

M26 dwarfing rootstock is favoured for the home garden, especially
to reduce the vigour of larger growing varieties. Fruit produced
very early in the trees life. As they are very shallow rooted they
will require staking for support. Mature height 2.5 – 3m.
COX'S ORANGE - Greenmeadow
A medium sized apple with a sharp tangy flavour. The skin
is striped red over green background, moderate crops ripening in
February.
DAYTON
Attractive cherry red skin over green turning dark red as it ripens.
Fruit ripening in late February to early March. A crisp and juicy
apple with a mild pleasant taste. Selected for its resistance to
black spot and mildew, so little need for fungicide sprays. A healthy
vigorous tree which, bears large crops.
Easy to grow and great to eat
GRANNY SMITH
A large, crisp green, exceptionally white fleshed apple,
good for dessert or cooking with excellent keeping quality. An upright
and vigorous tree.
LIBERTY
Large attractive blossom followed by medium to large fruit ripening
in March. Skin dark red block over green background. White tender,
crisp juicy flesh. Shows resistance to Blackspot and Mildew. Originated
in America.
Consistent cropping and disease resistant
qualities made this a must for our home orchard. One of those lovely
dark ruby red-skinned apples, that if picked at its peak cant fail
to impress.
LOBO
This very large Canadian apple ideal for eating and baking. Excellent
for general culinary use and for the production of apple juice.
The large, smooth flat round apples with deep red skin are produced
in heavy crops in Feb. Good keeper.
MACLEAR
Medium sized flat round fruit with red stripes on a green background.
A very tasty apple which is sweet and juicy on a vigorous tree.
An early apple – pick Xmas to Feb. As the tree sets fruit
early, they tend to avoid the Codlin Moth season, also shows resistance
to Blackspot and Mildew. (Royalty)
.MERTON RUSSET
A cross between, Cox's Orange Pippin and Sturmer Pippin. Oval shaped
apple, which is medium to small in size. Yellow flushed dull red
but almost completely covered in golden russet. Flesh is yellowish
tinged green, firn, crisp, sweet and sub acid, an excellent keeper.
Best stored 2-3 weeks before eating as it develops a rich pineapple
flavour, crisp and juicy. Ripens in early April.
PEASGOOD NONSUCH
A big flat, golden yellow/greenish apple, with bright red-stripes.
Ripening in February. Crisp white flesh, very juicy and aromatic.
Suitable for both dessert eating and as it pulps up well it is also
good for cooking.
PRISCILLA
A blackspot resistant apple bred in America, making it ideal for
organic growers. A fine dessert quality apple ripening early March.
Highly coloured dark red blush on a light yellow skin. The tree
is moderately spreading & vigorous.
SUNRISE
An attractive apple, with a cherry red stripe, becoming block red
at maturity. This is a high quality apple, which may be harvested
as early as mid January until very early February. The fruit has
excellent texture, is sweet but acid in flavour. An excellent cooking
apple which fluffs up well for stewing, a great pie filling. Storage
life is short for this small growing tree.

TYDEMANS LATE ORANGE
(Laxton’s Superb x Cox’s Orange) A late keeping high
quality dessert apple ripening over a 14-week period from April
until May. Medium sized apples with a red blush tending to russet
ripen on a strong healthy tree. The flesh is creamy yellow, firm
and juicy with an aromatic Cox flavour, which improves with storage.
Fruit can be quite small if not thinned and thinning is advised
to avoid biennial bearing. Raised 1930 by H. Tydeman.
